Laudato Si Club
Who We Are
Inspired by Pope Francis’ message, St Anthony’s Laudato Si club are a group of passionate pupils who want to improve our planet. We aim to raise the awareness of environmental issues as well as participating in meaningful projects that will make a difference.
What We Do
Our group members meet every Friday lunch time to discuss not only how to improve our school, but also how we can contribute to national issues too. In the long run, Laudato Si club hope to achieve a cleaner school environment as well as to encourage other pupils to voice their opinions and share ideas about how we could protect our planet.
Projects
- Laudato Si have worked together to collect over 200 crisp packets for the Crisp Packet Project. These crisp packets will be made into blankets for homeless people. This will help to raise the temperature of their sleeping bags and ensure they are kept dry.
- We have grown and distributed a spider plant to each classroom. There are many benefits to having one in the classroom, please see our information poster for more detail.
- The club also decided to promote Cleaner Air Day 2022. We encouraged families, who travel short distances to school with their children by car, to consider walking or cycling as an alternative. It was well received by many families and helped us make others aware of little changes we can make to help our planet.
- We are currently working on designing a prayer garden. This will be a space where pupils can go to pray, reflect and talk to God. We are also hoping to grow our own vegetables in this area to promote sustainability.
